Everyone has the right to eat nutritious and nourishing food. But not everyone has access to a meal, maybe not even once a day, and quite often, it’s not nutritious. This is why food insecurity and hunger remain a challenge in SA.
This Mandela Day, our team at Logico decided this is where we’d like to dedicate 67 minutes and make a difference – playing a role in making sure good, nutritious food reaches as many people as possible.
We joined FoodForward SA at their food warehouse in Gillitts, an area in New Germany – Pinetown, to pack food such as a canned beans, samp, soup mixes, rice, and other items into crates.
These healthy food items will be distributed across 2 750 non-profit community organisations such as community kitchens, shelters, centres for vulnerable children and elderly care facilities, that collectively provide over 950 000 people with access to nutritious meals daily.
FoodForward SA recovers quality surplus food from farmers, manufacturers and retailers to feed vulnerable communities.
We sorted food items and packed parcels along with hundreds of teams from greater Durban – a fantastic initiative that allowed us to meet new friends while doing something wonderful.
